Hagar The Horrible

Okay, I have a confession to make. I did not draw this this week, nor did I draw it for the sketch topic. Here’s my explanation. I drew this piece about a month or two ago. So when the topic for this week came up, based on Hagar the Horrible, I wanted to do something different. I could have drawn the character exactly how he’s drawn. Style and all. But I wanted to do my version of the character. Something different then the comic strip. And I confess, I did not put pencil to paper because I have been suffering from somewhat of an Artists block (same as Writers block) these past month or so. I wanted to draw, but I couldn’t bring myself to creating. It’s a very bad feeling I’ll tell you. So, when I went to draw this weeks challenge, struggling, I found this picture, by accident (I swear). It was hanging on my wall. I just looked up and there it was. It was perfect. Exactly what I wanted to draw. And so, that’s the story behind this piece for this weeks sketch challenge. I hope you enjoy.

Cheers.

Hagar, that is! This week’s sketch topic, back from vacation! I’ve never seen Hagar do anything horrible in 30 years, so I thought I’d do him ready to go viking on someone. I went old-fashioned with some colored pencil.hagar
